Ground Zero Bike+Run
Virtual Challenge

Organised by Mercy Relief, Singapore’s leading disaster relief NGO, the Ground Zero Run is in its fifth instalment. The event allows participants to experience a disaster survivor’s journey at ground zero – the disaster site – where there is need to collect urgent supplies required to endure the immediate aftermath of a humanitarian disaster by carrying a bag of rice and racing against time in a run for humanity.

This year, we have introduced the new Cycling category to invite more people in joining us by running or cycling for a good cause.

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is no longer appropriate to deliver the event in its original settings, therefore we have taken the decision to change the format of Ground Zero Run to a ‘Virtual Challenge’.

Right now, it is more important than ever to keep active to protect your physical and mental wellbeing. We hope that this Challenge will provide you with a positive distraction from the current situation we are all in.

In the Ground Zero Bike+Run Virtual Challenge, participants get to decide where and when your running/cycling track is: Be it in your neighborhood, along East Coast Park or even on the treadmill. Run/cycle solo, or team up to complete your chosen distance all at once or divide it up to fit your schedule. To make it even more challenging, try simulating the experience of a survivor’s journey from ground zero to collect urgent supplies needed in the aftermath of a natural disaster by running with a relief pack. Do your part. Sign up today in support of our humanitarian efforts!

All participants are invited to contribute to the Ground Zero Bike+Run Virtual Challenge through fundraising efforts which will be channeled towards our ‘Impact Fund’. This fund will allow us to scale our impact both locally and prepare ourselves to reach out to more communities affected by natural disasters regionally. Donations to our Impact Fund will enjoy a 250% tax exemption.
